I wanted to express my appreciation to the Smithfield Police Department and town staff for their coordinated effort with local and state partners to address the issues with vape and tobacco stores in the Town of Smithfield. 

It is encouraging to see the combined efforts to address noncompliance with town ordinances and state statutes regulating the sale of vaping products to minors and the distribution of marijuana in open defiance of the law. The swift action to suspend business licenses of those involved also sends a clear message to those who would attempt to flaunt the idea that no one will do anything. 

Perhaps other localities can learn from this cooperative effort.
