Smithfield’s Cypress Creek Golfers Club has changed hands for the second time in less than two years.
Isle of Wight County land transfer records show the sale of the 217-acre golf course from Virginia Beach-based Ishwarji LLC to CCGC Smithfield LLC for $2.4 million in January.
Ishwarji had purchased the golf course from Cypress Creek Golfers & Members Club LLC in 2023 for $2 million, according to land transfer records from that year.
CCGC Smithfield LLC was organized Nov. 14, according to State Corporation Commission records. Carey Hodsden, one of the partners in Ishwarji, told the Times the new owners include Jim and Annette Collins, Jon and Linda Lubecki and Steve and Heather Heishman. All three couples are residents of the surrounding 450-home Cypress Creek development.
One of those names is familiar to those who follow local government. Jim Collins serves on Isle of Wight County’s Economic Development Authority and from January through November of last year served as an appointed member of Smithfield’s Town Council. He’s also a general contractor with Chesapeake-based Edgewater Construction Services.
The Lubeckis have been regular participants in past charity golf tournaments held at Cypress Creek. Linda is by day the regional vice president for Dick’s Sporting Goods’ southeast region.
Annette Collins and Linda Lubecki are also partners in Feathered Elegance Boutique & Tea Room, a business planned for the restored circa-1903 Johnson house at 330 Main St. in Smithfield. The boutique’s website lists the business as “coming soon.”
“Our families came together to purchase Cypress Creek Golfers’ Club and restaurant because we believe in what this course and community represent,” said Heather Heishman, who’s also a Realtor. “The Collins, the Lubeckis, and our family all share a deep love for Smithfield, and we will ensure this gem thrives for generations to come. We’re committed to making Cypress Creek a vibrant destination for golf, dining, and connection both on and off the course.”
Hodsden, who was general manager and director of golf for Cypress Creek during the 13 months he owned the golf course, said he’d initially anticipated staying on as he helped the new owners with the purchase but left his role when the new owners went in another direction. He’s now director of golf at Golf in Chesapeake, an indoor golf simulation studio, restaurant and bar.
