Editor, The Smithfield Times:

Our Western Tidewater Master Gardeners volunteer group had its Spring Plant Sale at the Blackwater Regional Library Carrollton branch on May 3.

Our volunteers, passionate about plants and sharing their knowledge of plants for our area, greeted over 200 like-minded plant lovers. The proceeds from the event support the upkeep of the beautiful Learning Garden on the grounds of the Carrollton Library, as well as training and outreach programs through Virginia Cooperative Extension.

This event was made possible by many “behind the scenes” plant contributors and a generous book donor who helped make our plant sale a tremendous success. In addition we would like to thank the many businesses in Carrollton, Smithfield and the surrounding counties that allowed for advertisement. The Carrollton library staff gave tremendous support and the Parks and Recreation staff made sure the grounds were ready and looking their best for our eager plant shoppers.

We are extremely thankful for the article posted by The Smithfield Times (“Master Gardener plant sale returns to Carrollton library”) on May 7, highlighting our event and details on becoming a member of our local group.

On behalf of all our volunteers, thank you!
