Virginia State Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who allegedly struck a utility pole and knocked down power lines on the outskirts of Windsor.

Police responded around 10:50 p.m. on May 29 to a crash at 27055 Colosse Road, near Colosse Baptist Church and roughly 5 miles south of the town limits. There, police say they found an abandoned 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck in a ditch that had struck a power pole and caused active power lines to fall across the road.

Dominion Energy, which owns the power lines, was called to the scene along with the Virginia Department of Transportation to assist in establishing a detour.

The road had reopened as of the morning of May 30, according to VDOT’s 511 traffic-monitoring website, and Dominion’s online outage map showed no Isle of Wight County customers without power as of 9:54 a.m.

Police are asking anyone familiar with the vehicle or who knows the current owner to contact them at 804-750-8789 or by email at questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
