A section of Great Spring Road in Smithfield will be closed for up to a week starting today, June 2.

Town Manager Michael Stallings said the town-administered project involves replacing a culvert under the road.

While the closure is scheduled for one week, the road will reopen as soon as the work is completed, Stallings said.

Stallings said the section of closed road is past the Isle of Wight County Volunteer Rescue Squad station and won’t affect the ability of ambulances to travel to and from the station.
