Letter – Questions for VDOT

Editor, The Smithfield Times:

Is it my imagination or does the recently paved portion of Battery Park Road in front of the new Mallory Pointe subdivision feel kind of lumpy and bumpy?

Did the laydown machine malfunction during the paving process? Was a VDOT inspector on site to check the road specifications prior to the paving operation? These are questions best answered by the VDOT district engineer since there seems to be a lack of oversight during the reconstruction of this portion of the road.

The traveling public certainly expects that the newly paved road should meet the highest road construction standards. Unfortunately, this project fails to meet that standard.
