A section of Foursquare Road has reopened after being blocked for several hours to a dump truck having spilled sand onto the roadway.
Virginia State Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 3 at Foursquare Road’s intersection with Harry Wilson Road, just under 6 miles southwest of Smithfield, when a dump truck hauling sand overturned and spilled its contents. The driver was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The road’s eastbound and westbound lanes each remained closed as of 2:42 p.m. when the Virginia Department of Transportation was on scene detouring traffic. The incident had been removed from VDOT’s 511 traffic-monitoring website as of just after 7 p.m.
