Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Bailey Moody

SURRY — Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Bailey Moody, of Mill Neck Farm, Surry, died at home, Sunday, June 28, 2015.  She was a native and lifelong resident of Surry County and was the daughter of the late Hendricks L. and Inez Barham Bell Bailey.  

A graduate of Surry High School, Mary Beth worked and retired from Dominion Virginia Power, Surry Nuclear Power Station, as a Health Physics Administrative Assistant.  Mary Beth was a member of Surry United Methodist Church and served as treasurer of Oak Grove United Methodist Church for many years.  She was a member of the Bacon’s Castle Memorial Association Board of Directors and served as secretary to the board for 20 years.

A beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Beth leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Jeanette Winder-Tipling of Midlothian; her son, Terry J. Moody of Surry and Goochland; her grandson, J. Bradley Winder Jr. and his wife, Andrea;  her granddaughter, Kelsey Marie Moody; and her great-granddaughter, Bailey Elizabeth Winder.  She is also survived by special cousins, Deborah Faison Jones, her husband, Tommy, and his daughter, Christen J. Clarke; Fulton Faison and his wife, Debbie, and daughter, Bettie Nicole Faison and son, Rob Faison.

Family and friends will gather Wednesday, July 1, 10 a.m. for visitation in Surry United Methodist Church, followed by a service celebrating Mary Beth’s life at 11 am, with the Rev. Ray Rowland officiating.  Burial will follow in Bacon’s Castle “Old Brick Church” Cemetery.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Gen West, Taylor Barlow, and Nancy Beale for their love, many acts of kindness and faithfulness to Mary Beth in her last days.  The family suggests memorial contributions to Surry United Methodist Church, PO Box 118, Surry, VA  23883 or Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 133, Surry VA  23883.
