Delegate's complaint aired in secret

The Isle of Wight Board of Supervisors went into closed session Thursday for two items that called into question whether they actually qualified for closed-door discussions.

When asked, three of the five supervisors weren’t really sure why those items were in closed session either.

“I really don’t know. That was up to (county attorney) Mark (Popovich) and (county administrator) Anne Seward,” said Board Chairman Buzz Bailey.

The loss of Medicaid beds at Smithfield’s only nursing home has got Pam Young worried.

Her mother, Hazel Cornett, 85, suffers from dementia and Young is reluctant to leave her at home alon
