Edith “Pat” Crocker

Edith “Pat” Crocker, 86, of Smithfield, entered heaven’s gates on July 6, 2015 at James River Convalescent Center in Newport News.

She was born May 8, 1929 in Canton, NC. To the late Thomas J. and Eva E. Mauney. She lived in New York and Texas before settling in Virginia. Pat was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years Wallace R Crocker Sr. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Sheila C. Anderson, along with four brothers and three sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses; Diane (Ernie) Bray of Currituck, N.C., Randy (Pam) Crocker Jr, of Milton, Fla., Terry (Bill) Watts and Neal (Sheri) Crocker of Smithfield; grandchildren Stacy Collins, Chris Bray, Randolph Crocker, Kendall Watts, Kellie Bilafer, Daniel Crocker and Dana Crocker; great-grandchildren Timothy Jessee, Peyton and Connor Torrenti, Avery Bray and Ava Collins;one sister, Martha Hovis of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Virginia Crocker of Newport News; and the many nieces, nephews, special friends and families in the area whose lives she has touched. 

She was a caring wife, mother and homemaker and was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Her hobby was her many cookbooks. Aunt Pat or Nannie was known to many in Isle of Wight. She loved children and made her life caring for them and made sure they felt special. She has cared for so many children and has made such a difference in so many lives. She never met a stranger. She was a very special lady to many. She was a lifetime member of the Smithfield Volunteer Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 8, 6 – 8 p.m. at Terry Watts’ house at 9 James View Circle in Smithfield. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held the following day, July 9, 12:30 p.m. at St Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family after the service at Terry Watts’ home also.   

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to The Ronald McDonald House of Norfolk.

The family is served by Peninsula Funeral Home.
