To the town: Don’t spend it

The town council is debating spending money to rescue a derelict farmhouse and out buildings that are in need of significant structural repairs. The potential buyer has no interest in the house and would “pass it off to someone else for repair.”
The town already has one farmhouse aka Windsor Castle and no one is stepping up to the plate to purchase it and do the necessary rehab although the effort would be much less. The town should simply condemn the house and out buildings and let the purchaser take the responsibility to either rehab it or tear it down. I do not believe that the town should spend any more money on this property.
