Drop the bike path

At a time when it appears that our elected officials, from the tiniest town to the top levels of government are, if not corrupt, at least not serving their constituency as desired, we here in Smithfield are fortunate to have Mayor Carter Williams on board.

The proposed Bike Path to Nowhere, aptly named by a town resident, will be having a second look, thanks to Mr. Williams.

“Hey!,” he says, “The emperor isn’t wearing any new clothes!”

Right you are, Mr. Williams. A four-mile bike/pedestrian path that has no safe access or egress makes no sense at all to this voter.  While I am all in favor of enhancing the appeal of our lovely little part of the world, I see this as a project that is ill-advised, at best. Please consider using that 7-plus Million dollars in a more appropriate way. I won’t begin to list worthy causes.

And thank you, Mayor Williams for your vision.
