The Office of Commonwealth’s Attorney is arguably the most powerful position in Isle of Wight County. The one who holds that position possesses an enormous amount of discretion in the performance of his or her duties. The person we entrust with this power must be an impartial servant of the law, more interested in doing justice than gaining personal aggrandizement. Because Georgette Phillips is just such a person, I wholeheartedly support her quest to continue serving Isle of Wight citizens as our Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Having had the privilege of observing Ms. Phillips’s service for the past decade, I am impressed by her commitment to ensuring our safety through skilled and vigorous criminal prosecution while simultaneously wielding the powers of her office with humility and impartiality. I know of no one who has not been impressed by her ability to work with law enforcement, attorneys and court staff in seeking truth and justice. We are indeed fortunate that Ms. Phillips wishes to continue to serve us in this crucially important position.
