Service was well-received

Thanks to an ad in the Smithfield Times about the Celtic Service held at Christ Episcopal Church on Sept. 27, three women from Surry and Windsor attended this service. This special service is all about quiet reflection, soothing music, a few readings and a short homily. Many candles around the altar create a soft glow, and midway through the service, the congregation is invited to prayerfully light a tea light candle for themselves or others. There is also an opportunity for laying on of hands and healing prayer.

The people who attended were touched by this service and shared many nice comments about it afterward, while enjoying the soup, scones, Irish tea cakes, bread, and punch. We have had several Celtic services over the last few years, and we hope to continue to offer this service twice a year in the spring and fall. Hopefully, more people from the community will join us for this deeply spiritual experience.
