I have been a resident of the Newport District for 50-plus years, and have loved Isle of Wight County since the day I arrived. My five children and seven grandchildren graduated from Isle of Wight County schools, but things are different today, and not in a good way.

You citizens know the shape our county is in now. Well, election time is upon us again and it’s time to express our right to vote, but before you vote, pray about it and vote the right candidates in. My vote for supervisor in Newport District will be for William McCarty. I think he can bring some stability to the board and will listen to his constituents.

My second vote goes to Sheriff Mark Marshall. He has accomplished a lot. Let’s give him a chance to do even more.

If you live in the Windsor District, I beg yu to vote for Joel Acree for supervisor. I have known this young man since he was probably 4 or 5 years old. He was raised the old fashioned way. He was taught to respect and love his country and the people in it. He has so much love and respect for his fellow man and for the county. He is as leader and not afraid of responsibility, and he will listen to you. He will definitely help to get Isle of Wight back on its feet, and this vote will definitely be for us, not the power that reigns over us.
