I have known Michael since his teenage years when I was a deputy. Even then, he was a person that had the upmost respect for law enforcement. Some years later, when I became Sheriff of Surry County, Michael was a deputy in Isle of Wight County. He was always professional and sharp, so I asked him to come to Surry and work for me.

In 1994, I had the privilege of hiring him, and from that day forth, I knew I had made a wise choice. Electing him as sheriff of Surry County would be a wise choice also. Michael has the necessary essentials to be an excellent Sheriff — plenty of law enforcement experience, education, integrity and character. I know he will treat all citizens and visitors of the county with respect and dignity, under his leadership the entire Surry County Sheriff Office will uphold the same values.

Michael has patrolled the roads in this county on weekdays, weekends, holidays and in inclement weather for over two decades. He has put in the time and hard work, never quitting on serving and protecting the citizens and visitors of Surry County even when challenges or issues would arise- that is why I am in full support of him. As a matter of fact I, my wife Nan, and our dog Jay, all feel safe in our home knowing that he is out there watching over the county. Let’s continue to keep Surry a safe and special place to live by casting our votes on Nov. 3 for Michael U. Bailey, Sheriff of Surry County. He has my vote.
