For the past 21 years, I have had the pleasure of working very closely with Sgt. Michael Bailey. I have observed and watched his positive growth in both his personal and professional life. Michael’s professionalism, training, knowledge of the job, leadership skills, work ethic and his desire and ability to work with co-workers and the public are just some of the reasons why I promoted Michael to Sergeant four years ago. These qualities, his education and 27 years of experience make Michael Bailey an excellent choice as Sheriff of Surry County.
I’m proud that the Surry Sheriff’s Office has a reputation for being honest, understanding, efficient, effective, fair, respectful and compassionate. Michael Bailey will insure that this reputation stands. The Surry Sheriff’s Office has always been customer service friendly, courteous and eager to serve the citizens we encounter; a tradition that Michael Bailey will follow.
What I’m most proud of is that the Surry Sheriff’s Office has a very good reputation for treating all people with dignity and respect regardless of their circumstances. Again, Michael Bailey will continue this legacy.
I am positive Michael Bailey will keep the Surry Sheriff’s Office and its staff grounded and moving forward. When I consider and examine all of these necessary and good qualities and qualifications that Michael Bailey possesses, I am happy to endorse Michael Bailey as the next Sheriff of Surry County.
Alvin W. Clayton Sr.
