I have been a law enforcement officer in the County for over 11 years. I have had the pleasure of working with Georgette Phillips and her staff for many of those years. The ability to work closely with the Commonwealth’s Attorney office is paramount to the public safety mission.

As the patrol commander at the Sheriff’s Office, I have many responsibilities one of which is traffic safety. During my time here, Mrs. Phillips has been a valuable asset to the enforcement of impaired driving laws. DUI crashes contribute to a number of fatalities in our county each year. Mrs. Phillips has taken a proactive approach in prosecuting these matters. She has attended DUI conferences with our staff and conducts training classes for the deputies.

Mrs. Phillips and her staff not only prosecute these offenders but they also work to help them not become repeat offenders. Offenders are referred to alcohol abuse counseling upon convictions to give them tools to help them overcome their alcohol problems. This is just one example of the hard work and determination that Mrs. Phillips has in protecting the citizens of Isle of Wight County. I ask my fellow county residents to join me in voting for Georgette Phillips for Commonwealth Attorney on Nov. 3.
