Mary Elizabeth Blackwell Dashiell, 94, was called home on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, in Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield, after a brief illness. Born on Oct. 23, 1921, Mary Elizabeth was a native of Carrollton, and was the daughter of late Willie S. Blackwell and Mary Louise Thomas Blackwell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Francie Fisher Dashiell (d.2002)
A woman of love for family and faith in God, Mary Elizabeth was a member of Great Spring Church of the Nazarene. She was a homemaker who loved antiquing and cooking for her friends. She was a family caretaker for years, taking care of her parents and later taking care of her late husband Francis.
Mary Elizabeth is survived by her half sister, Deborah Anne Blackwell of Carrollton, and a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss her.
A service celebrating Mary Elizabeth’s life will be held Tuesday, Nov. 17, 11 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Acree officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. for visitation prior to the service.
