Ruth Stuart Bray, 88, of Shiloh, N.C. passed away at home Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015. She was born in Asheville, N.C. to the late Berge Stuart and Katherine Lankford Stuart and the widow of Dennis Burgess Bray. 

She was a  member of Shiloh Baptist Church for 65 years where she held many positions, a member of the Elizabeth City Shrinettes, a nurse for 24 years and a 45-year cancer survivor.

She is survived by two sons, James D. Bray and wife Ann of Smithfield, and Larry Bray and wife Katherine of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; four grandchildren, Scott Bray and wife Megan of Smithfield, Lauren Wills and husband Burgess of Windsor, Matt Bray of Hawaii and Kelly Bray of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; and one great-grandchild, Ainsley Wills. 

She was predeceased by a sister, Sue Davis, and two brothers, Roy Stuart and Harrell Stuart.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 25, 11 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Billy Royal officiating.
