Willie “Witty” Donahoe Minton

Willie “Witty” Donahoe Minton, 97, passed away in her home Dec. 16, 2015. She was a native of Caroline County and had lived in Smithfield since 1937.

She was the daughter of the late William F. Donahoe and Lucie Baughan Donahoe, and was the widow of Mills Ross Minton, III. She was the oldest active member of Benns United Methodist Church. 

In her early married life she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.  She was a past member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Historical Society.  She was a former member of the Junior and Senior Woman’s Clubs.  Every Monday found her playing bridge with her club for 72 years.

She is survived by her niece, Mary Ainslie Latimer and husband Art, of Suffolk; a great niece, Elizabeth Hazelwood Jamerson and great-great niece, Ainslie Hudson Jamerson of Richmond. 

Special thanks to her dedicated caregivers, Michelle Shannon, Mary Chapman, Paulette Cypress, Victoria Mattia and long time friend, Donna Skinner.  Thanks also to the Riverside Hospice Group for their professional services.

A graveside service will be held at St. Luke’s cemetery, Monday, Dec. 21, 11 a.m. by the Rev. O.H. Burton and the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr.
