The Isle of Wight Board of Supervisors selected an interim county administrator Monday evening during a closed session.

Sanford “Sandy” Wanner was tapped to serve as interim and until a permanent replacement can be appointed, said Board Chairman Rex Alphin.

Acting County Administrator Don Robertson will continue in that capacity until Warner takes the reigns Feb. 1. {mprestriction ids=”1,2,3,4,5,6″}

Wanner recently served as interim county administrator in Gloucester County.

Earlier this month, the Board opted not to make Robertson an interim administrator following a closed session.

Robertson serves as director of Information Resource and Legislative Affairs and has been with the county since 1990.

The job became available when former Isle of Wight County Administrator Anne Seward abruptly resigned after three new members were elected to the Board of Supervisors — Joel Acree (Windsor), Dick Grice (Smithfield) and William McCarty (Newport).  {/mprestriction}
