Robert Norman Horne Sr., 78, of Dinwiddie, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Sherman Horne Sr. and Martha Horne Gwaltney; daughter, Teresa Olszewski, and his brothers and sisters.

Robert Norman Horne Sr. was honorably discharged from the United States Army and retired as a decorated master sergeant after serving 23 years. While serving, he received the Bronze star for his achievements against hostile forces along with other medals of achievements.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, June K. Horne; children, Sonya Hayes, Robert Norman Horne Jr., and wife, Martha; grandchildren, Taylor Hayes, Stephanie Olszewski, Shaye Olszewski, Ben Cole and Becky Byers; seven great-grandchildren; sister. Connie Wade; numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 24, 6-8 p.m. at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home 6616 Boydton Plank Road, Dinwiddie, followed by a service there Thursday, Feb. 25, 2 p.m. Burial will be private.
