Elsie Blount Marrow transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, April 11, 2016 at the home of her beloved “son” Victor C. Langhorne Sr. in Newport News.  Born Aug. 1, 1922, she is the only child of the late James Ural and Mary Herring Blount.  She is a graduate of the Isle of Wight Training School and Fayetteville State Teaching College.  As a life-long resident of Smithfield, Elsie retired after about 40 years of teaching in the Isle of Wight County schools.  She is survived by a host of loved ones.  All who experienced her special brand of love, encouragement and joy will cherish her memory.   The family will receive visitors and expressions of love at 315 63rd St., Newport News.   A celebration of her life will be held at noon on Saturday, April 16, at Brown’s AME Church, 657 Main St., Smithfield.
