Walter “Johnny” Palmer Scott Jr., 66, of Smithfield, passed away on April 8, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Goff Scott; father Walter Palmer Scott Sr. and mother Verna L. Scott . Walter is survived by his daughter, Laura and her husband Homer Marsh; son, William Scott; granddaughter, Katelyn Gregory; sister, Sarah Scott Leber; brother-in-law, Charles Lee Leber Sr.; and many nephews and nieces.

 Walter was a millwright at Local 1402 for 43 years and served on the executive board for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Walter also enjoyed raising and hunting Brittanys and coonhounds. A visitation will take place at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, on Wednesday, April 13, from 6 – 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
