Robert “Bob” Henderson Moss Sr.

Robert “Bob” Henderson Moss Sr., 88, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016.  Born in Fries, Robert was the son of the late Issac and Fannie Bennett Moss.  Before moving to Isle of Wight, County in 1983, Robert and his family had lived in Newport News since 1952.  He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding, Dept. X-43, machinery installation, after 42 years of service. He attended Smithfield Church of God of Prophecy.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Arvetta C. Moss; sister, Hazel Wilson; brothers, James W. Moss, Paul Moss and John Moss He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Patsy M. Bell (Tom) and a son, Robert H. “Bobby” Moss Jr. (Ginger); grandchildren, Michael Bell (Christina), Sherry Bell, Travis Moss (Jennifer) and Melissa Moss; two great-grandchildren; sister, Clara Emerson; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, May 7, 1 p.m., in Colonial Funeral Home for visitation, followed by a service celebrating Bob’s life at 2 p.m., with grandson, the Rev. Michael Bell officiating.  Burial will follow in Uzzell Church cemetery.
