CARROLLTON — Mark Alan Rastatter, 58, passed away at home, Sunday, June 5, 2016, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle that started with lung cancer eight months ago. Born in Tucson, Arizona, Mark was the son of the late Wilbur James and Dorothea Sue Heir Rastatter.
He had lived in the Hampton Roads area for the past 40 years and was a lead supervisor at LIEBHERR Heavy Equipment Manufacturer for 39 years.
A beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, Mark leaves to cherish his memory his soulmate and wife of 40 years, Georgina Emerson Rastatter; his son, David and his wife, Jaime; grandchildren, Matilyn, Jeffery, Torrie, Katie and Jensen; brothers, Scott and his partner, Paul, Doug and his wife, Lorna, and Greg and his wife, Bonnie; aunt, Kathy; brother-in-law, Rick and wife, Sue; sister-in-law, Denise; and a host of nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Mark will be remembered for his love of life and family, with an especially close attachment to granddaughter, Matilyn. He was an avid NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan, enjoyed hunting and fishing and vegetable gardening. Every fall, Mark enjoyed travelling back to Arizona to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family.
A service celebrating Mark’s life will be held Wednesday, June 8, 6p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home, with co-worker Vernon Whitehead leading the service. Burial will be private and at a later date.
