ST. LOUIS, MO — Joe Lang passed away on July 17, 2016 in St. Louis, Mo., where he and his wife Jan have lived all of the 33 years they were married. Joe was an accomplished mechanical engineer and an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Jan, stepson John Wait and daughter-in-law LeAnn Wait of Smithfield; his son Dave (Kelsey) Lang of Minneapolis and son Mike (Debbie) Lang in Dallas.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Lang. Joe also left behind his six grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Anna and Sarah Wait and Mac and Finn Lang, all of whom brought him great pride in being their Grandpa Joe.

Joe and Jan frequently traveled to Smithfield to visit with John and family along with family-in-law, the George and Jeanette Edwards family.  They were always welcomed with open arms and lots of love.  The sparkle in Joe’s eyes during those visits told the story of how much he cherished his Smithfield family.  Other close relationships developed with friends in Smithfield and with members of the Bethany United Methodist Church where Joe and Jan would attend services with the Wait and Edwards families while visiting.
A huge void has been left in the hearts of everyone who knew Joe.  A celebration of his life will be planned for this autumn in St. Louis.
