Marilynn Ellen Cofer Edwards, 93 of Smithfield passed away on Friday Aug. 26, 2016.  A lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, she was the wife of the late Charles William Edwards Sr. Also predeceased by her parents, Willie M. Cofer and Myra Haverty.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ellen Blount and Nancy Casper (Thomas), her son, Charles W. Edward, Jr.; and two granddaughters, Christie Casper and Jessica Casper. She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Cofer Edwards; sister Elizabeth Burgess, and her brother Frank M. Cofer.

A lifelong member, she was the oldest member of Bethany United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 31 years.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. in Bethany United Methodist Church, with the Reverends Michael Frank and Tommy Reynolds. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
