Holbrook Johnson

Holbrook Johnson passed away peacefully at home, Friday, Sept. 30, 2016.
He had been a resident of Smithfield since 1990. Holbrook retired as a civil service engineer-contract estimator from Fort Monroe after 43 years of service. He worked at Chetham Annex, then later at Fort Monroe. He was faithful parishioner of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Holbrook was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Alzina Johnson, (d. 2010). He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Comrett Johnson, and his wife, Mila, of Smithfield; his granddaughter, Rowena Pring and her husband, Danilo Pring; four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends, including Pete Colley Sr., Holbrook’s dear friend for more than 70 years.
A Christian wake service will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, 6 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home with Father Tony Yllana officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private.
