Path of Matthew changes, to turn east

Update:  Smithfield’s Hog Jog and Court Days will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 as scheduled, but the vintage market has been cancelled due to weather and will be rescheduled at a later date.

With a change in the track of Hurricane Matthew, it appears Isle of Wight and Surry may be spared from severe weather.

The National Hurricane Center announced the change Wednesday morning and the storm remains on track to turn east around the North and South Carolina border on Sunday. Isle of Wight will likely feel little impact other than some rain, wind and tidal flooding.
