James Anthony Robinson

James Anthony Robinson, 55 reached his victory on Dec. 17, 2016, ending his courageous battle with cancer.  He was a resident of Isle of Wight County and was the son of the late James L. Robinson.

Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 14 years, Sandra Walker Robinson’ and two stepson-sons, Russ C. Whitley (Destiney) and Reed C. Whitley.  He is also survived by his mother, Mae Amory Robinson; brothers Mike Robinson (Angie) and Doug Robinson (Kathy Jo); sister –in-law, Kathy Robinson; father and mother-in-law, Victor L .Walker and Phyllis H. Walker; brother-in-law, Larry Walker (Cindy); nephew Larry Jr. (Suzanne) and niece Angel Clarke(B.J.); a host of great nieces and nephews; his dogs, Dallas, Harley, Bella and Ziggy; and grand-dogs, Jake and Floyd. He was predeceased by his brother, Mark S. Robinson.

Jim attended Ivor United Methodist Church and was active in the men’s fellowship.  Jim was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the late Dale Earnhardt.  He loved to go camping with his family, traveling to the Caribbean, but most recently taking trips to Lancaster, Penn. to the Site and Sound Theatre, to Fedex Field for a Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins game, to Cocoa Beach, Fla. and the Richmond Raceway.  Jim lived life by the motto “yes, dear” and taught his sons and nephew the importance of saying that.  Jim was kind and humble, always working and never complaining to provide for his family. Never showing any weakness, he loved with all his heart. His careers included employment with Newport News Shipbuilding, VDOT, Isle of Wight County and Dominion Power.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. in Ivor United Methodist Church, Ivor, with the Rev. Cliff Fritzinger presiding.  Burial to follow in the Windsor town cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Parr Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 6  – 7:30 p.m.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Virginia Oncology, the Obici Hospital third floor surgical unit and Medi Health and Hospice for their kind caring and support.
