Paul Bruno Robbins

CARROLLTON — Paul Bruno Robbins passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at the age of 61.  Born in Mineola, N.Y, on Nov. 27, 1955, he was the son of the late Clarence William and Adeline Robbins of Huntington, NY.  He is also preceded in death by his father-in-law, David Kersten of Hampton.

Paul is survived by his wife, Katherine Robbins of Carrollton, his son, Michael Robbins and wife Kimberly and their children Isabella and Tyler of Norfolk, his son, Christopher Robbins and wife Jessica of Hampton; mother, Diane Michele of New York, N.Y.; brother David Robbins and his family of Wingdale, N.Y.; mother-in-law Marion Kersten of Hampton; and brother-in-law, John Kersten and wife Christina of Port Jefferson, N.Y.  

In 1975, Paul married the love of his life, Katherine, and after an enlistment in the U.S. Army, they settled in Poquoson. Paul worked as an insurance agent for more than 30 years and for the past 11 years was owner of two Allstate Insurance agencies on the Peninsula. Paul and Kathy were also former owners of the Hilton Deli in Newport News and the Bay Deli in Poquoson.

Paul accomplished many things and always had an entrepreneur spirit.  He was a dedicated member of the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department and received his lifetime membership at his hospital bedside with his family and many friends in attendance. He was a founding member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in York County. Paul always put his family first and was affectionately known as “Be-bop” by his two grandchildren. 

Family and friends will gather at Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, 15020 Carrollton Blvd., Carrollton, for visitation at 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31. A funeral service celebrating Paul’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Colonial Funeral Home, Carrollton, with Chaplain Judy Worrell and the Rev. Michael Condrey officiating.
