CARROLLTON — Carolyn Blomgren made her transition from this life on Feb 26, 2017. She was married to the Jack P. Blomgren, Col, USAF, Ret. (deceased), and is survived by three children, Jack Philip (Phil) Blomgren (Hélène) of Yuba City, Calif., Nancy Marie Deming-May (Joseph) of Carrollton and Diane Renée Blomgren of San José, Costa Rica; five grandchildren, Jack Deming (Heather), Lauren Deming, Miller Deming, Chantal Blomgren and Chloe Blomgren; and sister, Rita Joyce Beane Cullen (Michael) of Sacramento, Calif.; three nieces, a nephew and numerous beloved grand-dogs.

Carolyn was born in 1929 in Tulia, Texas, and raised in Sylvester, Texas. She graduated from Texas Tech in 1950, and after teaching second grade for several years she decided to sate her desire to see the world.  She joined the Navy (because they had the prettiest uniforms) and served as a recruiter in Kansas City and at the Pentagon. Her marriage took her to Sioux City, Iowa; Norman, Okla.; Laon, France; Montgomery, Ala,; Alexandria, Va.; Middletown, RI; Ramstein, Germany; Bentwaters and Woodbridge, England; and Edneyville, N.C. After her divorce, she joined her sister in California and sold real estate for various companies in Sacramento and Yuba City.  She always managed to find ways to travel, and her adventures included swimming in the Dead Sea, riding an elephant in Thailand, breaking an ankle on the Great Wall of China, and safaris in South Africa and Tanzania.  Her family will fondly remember her indelibly positive outlook, her love of a good joke, a good party, the Unity Church, her grand-dogs, and a cheap, but cold, glass of white wine.  (“I never met a wine I didn’t like!”)

A Celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be held Friday, March 3, 4 p.m., at Colonial Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery at the later date.
