BATTERY PARK — Baxter Burnett Davis passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 10 after a short battle with cancer.

He was born Feb. 14, 1952 in Elizabethton, Tenn. and was the son of the late Baxter K. and Novella Davis.  He was a welder, working at Newport News Shipbuilding and later at Smithfield Foods, where he retired from in 2009.  He was also the proprietor of Davis Welding.

He enjoyed beaches and boating and was happiest being out on the water and spending time with his family and friends. His grandsons, Bradley and Caiden, were the sunshine of his life and meant the world to him. He loved to watch them after school and any other times he was needed.
