Genevieve was a graduate of Smithfield High School and graduated with a BS in business from Mary Washington College. She worked for the civil service for more than 20 years at Fort Eustis and was then employed in administration at Farmer’s Service in Smithfield until her retirement.

An avid genealogist, Genevieve was a member of 12 genealogical societies, held many offices in these organizations and volunteered at the Smithfield Library. She was a lifelong member of Benn’s Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her deep love of her family and her service to the community. It can be said that Genevieve that she honored the past, encouraged young people to reach for the stars and lifted up others — whoever they are — black, white, red, yellow or brown.

A memorial to Genevieve will be held at Benn’s United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 6, 2 p.m. A reception at the church will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be to VITAS Hospice, 1575 Northside Drive, Suite 375, Atlanta Ga. 30318.
