CARROLLTON — Jerry Lee Bailey, 52, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017. He was a native and lifelong resident of Isle of Wight, a beloved eldest son of Rollis I. Bailey Jr. and Marie Talton Bailey and grandson of Rollis Bailey Sr. and Elsie (Buttercup) Harrell Bailey and Chester and Irene Talton. He is survived by a brother, Ronnie Bailey; a sister, Susan Sauder and her fiance’ Will Greer; a special nephew, Bailey and niece Bridgette.
Jerry was a passionate carpenter and woodworker. He loved to help and care for others with his crafts and hands. He was a caregiver, great cook, gardener and avid fisherman and hunter.
In addition, Jerry was adopted and loved by many friends: O.A. and Hazel Spady; Jim, Elizabeth, Richard, Jimmy and Steve Turner; Jackie Lee, Shirley and Kim Hooker; Bruce and Darlene Spady; Jimmy Holland, Paul Evert; Steve and Rhonda Culpepper; Ronnie Fields; and two canine pals, Button and Jackson. A special appreciation goes to Julie South for 13 years of service as a friend and counselor and special thanks to Steve Bowman and Joey Willard for their friendship and guidance.
Family and friends gathered to remember Jerry on Saturday, April 22, at Colonial Funeral Home in Carrollton with the service given by Kim Hooker. The family would like to thank all who attended and sent condolences. Thanks to Marty and Nancy Lynn Delk for their special care and kindness.
