Larry Dale Torrey

CARROLLTON — Larry Dale Torrey, 69, born Feb. 12, 1948 in his beloved Maine, went to be with God and his Savior, Jesus Christ, May 14, 2017.  Larry, affectionately named YaYa by his first grandchild, is survived by Lynn, his wife of 45 years; their three children, Michael Torrey and wife, Autumn, Jonathan Torrey and wife, Deidre, and Amy Hutchinson and husband, Joey; his father, Evan Palmer; mother-in-law, Virginia Mollura; his three sisters, Amber Craig and husband, Michael, Rebecca Palmer, and Claire Palmer, 11 grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law and their spouses; and a host of extended family, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Larry was a civil service facility manager at Craney Island Fuel Terminal, assisting in operating and protecting the Naval facility.

Larry will be remembered for his love of God and family.  Spending time with his grandchildren was one of Larry’s most cherished activities, especially building things in his barn.

Larry was a faithful member of Carrollton Baptist Church.  His love for missions was an obvious part of his spiritual life.

Family and friends will gather Friday, May 19, 2 p.m. for a graveside service in Albert G. Horton Jr. Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.  Following the committal service, a service celebrating Larry’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m., in Carrollton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lee Hess officiating.  Family will receive friends following the service.
