NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE is hereby given that the Surry County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a public hearing for Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 7:00pm in the General District Courtroom of the Surry County Government Center, 45 School Street, Surry, Virginia 23883, to hear public comments and consider Ordinance 2017-01, a proposed revision to the Surry County Weapons Ordinance §20-66 and §20-67. Copies of the draft revisions are available for review and inspection by the public in the Office of the County Administrator, Surry County Government Center, 45 School Street, Surry, Virginia. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Public Hearing Notice

The Virginia Department of Transportation and the Board of Supervisors of Surry County, in accordance with Section 33.1-70.01 of the Code of Virginia, will conduct a joint public hearing in the General District Courtroom in the Surry County Government Center, 45 School Street, Surry, Virginia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017. The purpose of this public hearing is to receive public comments on the proposed Six Year Secondary Road Improvement Plan for Fiscal Years 2018 through 2023 in Surry County. Copies of the proposed plan may be reviewed in the Surry County Department of Planning located at 45 School Street, Surry, Virginia.

All project(s) in the Six Year Secondary Road Improvement Plan, that are eligible for federal funds, will be included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), which documents how Virginia will obligate federal transportation funds.

Notice of Public Hearing

On Wednesday, June 7, 2017, the Town Council of the Town of Claremont, Virginia will conduct a Public Hearing on water and sewer rate changes and the FY 2017-2018 Claremont Town budget of $60, 607.00, Claremont Water System budget of $95,861.40, and Claremont Sewer System budget of $27,934.80 to include assumed water rate changes. The Public Hearing will be conducted at 6:30pm at Claremont Town Hall, 4115 Spring Grove Avenue, Claremont, Virginia. All interested persons may appear at such time and place and present their views. The Town Council Meeting will be at 7:00pm following the Public Hearing.

TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD
SPECIAL USE PERMIT

Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Town Council in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. to consider the application of Kathleen Swedish, owner and Pamona Kelli Pollard, applicant, for a special use permit under the provisions of Article 3.G., Section C, and Article 6 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve the use of the premises for a private school/service establishment and in particular for a cosmetology school.. The property which is the subject of this special use permit is located at 704C S. Church Street. The property in question is zoned R-O, Residential Office District.

Any person affected by or interested in the aforesaid application may appear at the hearing and be heard. Copies of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield and application for this special use permit are available for inspection in the offices of the Department of Planning, Engineering, & Public Works, 310 Institute Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.
