Franklin “Frank” Reed Sharon

CARROLLTON—Franklin “Frank” Reed Sharon, 81, passed away at home, Sunday, June 4, 2017, surrounded by his family. Born in St. Petersburg, Fla.. Frank was the son of the late James Reed and Anna Virginia Lester Sharon. He lived in Isle of Wight for nine years, having been a former resident of Florida, Tennessee and Georgia.
Frank was a devoted husband and beloved father and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Myrna B. Sharon; two sons, James “Jim” F. Sharon and Charles “Chuck” L. Sharon; and eight grandchildren, Amber T., Kane D. and Gage D. Sharon, Charles F., Mariah C., Brittany K., and Tyler J. Sharon, and Catherine Hancock and a host of extended family and friends.
For some 20-plus years, Frank worked as a fireman and paramedic for the city of St. Petersburg, Fla., retiring in 1978. He was then a security officer for independent companies. He was a history buff and a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and was a past officer of the camp.
A service celebrating Frank’s life will be held Thursday, June 8, 7 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will follow at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Frank’s memory to the Sons of the Confederacy, Isle of Wight Avengers Camp #14, Scholarship Fund, c/o Keith Morris, 130 Kings Point Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434.
