Ada Crocker Thompson

Ada Crocker Thompson, loving wife, mother and aunt, passed away at her home on June 28, 2017 at the age of 88.  Ada was born to parents Charlie B. and Nettie Turner Crocker who predeceased her.  She was also predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Charles A. “Andy” Thompson, who passed away Feb. 4, 2016; sisters, Odelle C. Holleman, Tera C. Wyatt and a brother Cecil L. Crocker.  She is survived by a son, Russell K. Barlow, and a sister, Nell C. Owen (Sonny).  She is also survived by a special niece, Linda Raye H. Evans; nieces, Patricia C. Edmundson (John), Wanda C. Pearson, Susan O. Saunders (Whit) and Alice O. Adams; and a nephew, Cecil L. Crocker Jr. 

Except for a few years in Portsmouth and Carrollton, Ada lived all her life in Smithfield.  She was a secretary/bookkeeper and worked for several area businesses.  She retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 1991.She was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church and was a kind, gentle lady who loved her family and friends. 

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2 p.m. in the chapel of Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, with burial to follow in St. Luke’s Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday July 1, 6 – 7:30 p.m. The family would like to thank Angie Batten and Angie Rowland, faithful caregivers, who showed love and support for Ada.
