H.M. “Dude” Vaughn

CARROLLTON — H.M. “Dude” Vaughn, 87, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017.

After a 41-year career with the Newport News Shipyard, he retired in 1992 as the power house operator. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and its Liberty Builders. His love of antique cars led him to be a member of several antique car clubs. He enjoyed spending time in his yard and tending to his flowerbeds.   

 Surviving members of his family include his wife of 67 years, DeGloria Darnell Vaughn; children, Mike Vaughn and Denise Vaughn Prescott; grandchildren, K.C. Vaughn Marlino, Kate L. Vaughn; great grandchildren, Shanna Marlino, Christian Vaughn, Jordan Marlino, and Alyssa Grishaw.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 5, 2-3 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.  Following the visitation, a service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
