PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The Town Council and the Planning Commission of the Town of Surry will hold a joint public hearing August 8th, 2017 at 7:00pm in the Town’s meeting room (84 Colonial Trail East). The purpose of the public hearing is to review the proposed updates to the Town of Surry Comprehensive Plan. At 7:15pm, the Town Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed 2017/2018 budget. A complete copy of the proposed Comprehensive Plan updates and the 2017/2018 budget can be seen in the Town business office (31 Colonial Trail East) during regular office hours.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Surry County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a public hearing for Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 7:00pm in the General District Courtroom of the Surry County Government Center, 45 School Street, Surry, Virginia 23883, to hear public comments and consider the following Conditional Use Permit Applications:. Copies of the applications are available for review and inspection by the public in the Office of the County Administrator, Surry County Government Center, 45 School Street, Surry, Virginia. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

CUP-2017-02A – Application by Spring Grove Solar, LLC for a Conditional Use to permit a Utility Service/Major, as permitted by Article III, Section 3-302 Permitted Uses, (c) of the Surry County Zoning Ordinance.  The subject property is irregularly shaped, zoned Agriculture Rural District (A-R), and consists of 2,676’+acres. The property fronts on the East side of Colonial Trail West/SR 10 for 3,000’+ and the South side of Beaverdam Road/SR 626 for 11,000’+ and has an average depth of 8,700’+. Notice is hereby given pursuant to Sections 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia, (1950), as amended, that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of Cypress Investment Holdings, LLC, owner, for an amendment to the current zoning ordinance to amend the proffered conditions attendant to the original approved change in zoning classification of certain property now zoned (S-R), Suburban Residential (Conditional). The proposed changes in the proffered conditions will provide for:

Removal of 24 townhomes. Increase of the maximum number of units from 450 to 518 (68 additional units). Inclusion of 91 age-restricted units. Replacement of references to ‘environmental’ with ‘architectural’ review board. Removal of 40–50 boat slips. Removal of the build-out timeframe. Inclusion of the Design Guidelines for the proposed Phase VI.
