Jimmy “Bootsie” Powell

On Tuesday, Aug. 15, Jimmy “Bootsie” Powell, 62, entered his eternal home in heaven. He was born in Suffolk, the son of Jean C. Powell and the late James Wallace Powell Sr. He is survived by his loving mother, Jean, and his precious daughter, Tara Elizabeth Powell, who was the light of his life. 

He is also survived by his uncle, Vernon Carr Sr. and his wife Patty; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his dog, Miley. 

He spent part of his childhood in the Central Hill area.

Jimmy retired from the Coca-Cola Company after 20 years of service and most recently served as regional account manager for Monster Energy Company. He was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church in Chesapeake and an active member of the Suffolk Golf Course Association. Jimmy was a loving and devoted father and son. He was an avid golfer and lived life to the fullest. He was a great friend who will be missed by all. His contagious smile and laughter will never be forgotten. 
Jimmy’s celebration of life service was held Aug. 19 at Central Hill Baptist Church, Windsor with Pastor Tommy Larson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jackson Memorial Baptist Church missions. Online condolences can be made at www.LovingFuneralHome.com
