Peggy A. Mercer

WINDSOR—Peggy A. Mercer, 83, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 27, 2017. Formally of Glade Springs, she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Hester Arnold. She spent 33 years helping educate young children by teaching in several different school systems. She was a member of Central Hill Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees.

Peggy is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Charles E. Mercer. She left the world while holding his hand. Peggy is also survived by her daughter, Deborah M. White and husband, Lloyd; her son, Charles David Mercer and wife, Renee; five granddaughters; Katherine Holland and husband, Joey, Laura Ballard and husband, Robbie, Megan Mercer, Brooke DiStasio and husband, Scott, and Candace Mercer; four great-grandsons; William Holland, Jackson Holland, Wyatt Ballard and Charles Ballard; and one great-granddaughter, Allison Holland. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Sturgill and husband, Cecil; one nephew, Jeff Sturgill and wife, Melissa; and three aunts, one great-niece and 10 first cousins.

Family and friends will gather for visitation Friday, Sept. 1, 6-7:30pm, in Colonial Funeral Home.  A life celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
