NEWPORT NEWS — Edward (Eddie) Francis Knapp Jr., 61, of Newport News, passed away Sept. 15, 2017.  He was born in Syracuse, N.Y. on Jan.  9, 1956, to the late Edward F Knapp Sr. and June McGuriman Knapp. 

Eddie attended Smithfield High School and worked as a diesel truck mechanic in the Chesapeake and Norfolk area.  He attended Denbigh Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his brother, John (Lauretta) of Smithfield; his sisters, Donna of League City, Texas and Barbara of Newport News; aunt, Dianna Keen (JR) of Smithfield; nephews, John Knapp Jr. and Ray Knapp-Carr; and niece, Jennifer Knapp. 
A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Denbigh Baptist Church Youth House, 13010 Mitchell Point Road, Newport News.
