Carolyn Louise Skinner, 55, left our world on Nov. 10, 2017. She was born in Portsmouth, but lived most of her life in Smithfield. She attended Isle of Wight Academy, graduating in 1980. She moved to Charlotte, N.C. with her partner, Tema Carter, in 2009.
Carolyn was known for her incredible infectious laughter and smile by her friends and family. Always known for her wonderful conversation and ability to make sure that any situation was light, she carried a certain passion for many topics she held dear. She truly enjoyed every day that life gave her. She loved art, painting and sketching. The show “Survivor” and the Carolina Panthers were among her favorites.
Of the many things that Carolyn enjoyed, her grandchildren were an extra special treasure and joy to her.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Joel (Nikki), daughter, Kyndall; grandchildren, Raegan, Jayda, Morgan, Patrick and Vincent; her brother, Rhae Skinner; and her life long friend, Gail Davis.
Family and friends ask that, in lieu of flowers, any thoughtful gift to Isle of Wight Academy in her name and honor would be appreciated. A casual memorial gathering will be held at the Jester Gymnasium at Isle of Wight Academy on Dec. 9, 2 p.m.
