CARROLLTON — Helen Rose Smoot, passed away Friday, Dec 8, 2017. Born in West Virginia on Oct. 28, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Myrtle Moore Herald. Helen, in her earlier years, was a teacher with the West Virginia public school system, where she taught fourth and sixth grade. She has been a resident of Isle of Wight County for 40 years and a member of Carrollton Baptist Church.  

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Buel Smoot; son, Jerry N. Smoot; brother, Ray Herald; and a sister, Brookie Bramlett. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Virgil R. Smoot (Anne); daughters, Noretta D. Davidson (Ralph) and Twilla S. Fulks; sister, Jo Anne Fisher and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

A life celebration service will be held in Colonial Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, with the Rev. Lee Hess officiating. Burial will be private.
