Pauline Frances Goodwyn Barfield of Dendron passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 25, 2017. Born Oct. 14, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Henry David Goodwyn and Annie Thrift Goodwyn. Mrs. Barfield was a devoted wife and mother who loved life and was the peacemaker of the family. She always put her family first and cherished every time the family celebrated together. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard McCoy Barfield; her stepmother, Myrtle Shackleford Goodwyn; her brother, David Henry Goodwyn Jr. and a grandson, Richard Alan Barfield. 

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Richard McCoy Barfield (Mary), Clifton Earl Barfield (LeeAnn) and Kenneth Alan Barfield; grandchildren, Cynthia Kelly, Mathew Barfield (Lesley), Christopher Barfield (Brittney), and Melanie Robinson (Mike); eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a nephew.  
A funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 28, 2 p.m. at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel with the Rev. Ray Rowland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Waverly Cemetery.
