Wallace Weldon “Wally” Strader Jr., 55, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. Wally was born in Lynchburg on Aug. 7, 1962 to Wallace Weldon Strader Sr. and Alice Griffith Strader. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in mechanical engineering and received his master’s degree from George Washington University. He served his country in the United States Navy from July 1981-July 1987. 

In addition to his parents, Wally is survived by his brothers, Stephen Douglas Strader (Amy) of Bellevue, Wash. and Kevin Ray Strader (Amy) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; nieces, Reagan Strader and Caroline Strader; three aunts and many cousins.  

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 16 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale, N.C. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, and other times at the home of his parents, Wallace and Alice Strader, 104 Meadows Circle, Knightdale, N.C. 27545. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Hill Baptist Church, 10270 Central Hill Road, Windsor, VA 23487 or Bethlehem Baptist Church.
